The answer

HiPP Dutch formula is the range HiPP sells in the Netherlands: 9 packs, the Bio Combiotik Stages 1, 2 and 3, 3 goat's milk tins, HA 1 and HA 2, and a Junior for toddlers. Every one is lactose only, made in Germany and printed in Dutch and French, and the range has no PRE and no ready-to-feed bottle. American parents buy it from importers; Organic Life Start, our partner retailer, sells all 9 in the United States.

Key takeaways

  • The Dutch range this site records runs to 9 packs: Bio Combiotik 1 to 3, goat's milk 1 to 3, HA 1 and 2, and the Junior.
  • Every Dutch pack is lactose only, where the German Combiotik Stages 1, 2 and 3 add starch.
  • The tins are printed in Dutch and French; the name on the front says whether a tin is infant, follow-on or growing-up milk.
  • HiPP Netherlands sells no PRE and no ready-to-feed bottle; its Stage 1 is lactose only from birth, as the German PRE is.
  • Organic Life Start, our partner retailer, and the other sellers this site tracks all import the Dutch tins; ordering through this site pays us a commission.

Every Dutch pack this site records gives lactose as its only carbohydrate. The Bio Combiotik, HA and Junior tins hold 800 g and the goat's milk tins 400 g.28

HiPP's Dutch site lists its goat's milk in Stages 1 and 2 only. The goat's milk Stage 3 that sellers carry has a label on HiPP's Dutch file server and no page on its site.67

What does a Dutch HiPP label say?

A Dutch tin is printed in Dutch and French, names HiPP Nederland in Utrecht as its distributor, and says it was made in Germany.3

The name on the front is the word that matters, because it says which kind of milk the tin holds, and HiPP's Dutch names are these.2489107

What sets the Dutch range apart from the German one?

Three things, which the comparison of the Dutch, German and UK versions sets out in full. The German range has a PRE and the Dutch has none; the Dutch Stage 1 is lactose only from birth, as the German PRE is.111

The German Combiotik Stages 1, 2 and 3 add a little starch, where every Dutch stage is lactose only.122

And the Dutch Combiotik comes in a 800 g tin, where the German comes in a 600 g box.212

Where do you buy Dutch HiPP in the United States?

From importers, because HiPP makes the Dutch range for the Netherlands and names no North American market but Mexico.13 Organic Life Start, our partner retailer, sells all 9 Dutch packs, at the prices in the table above, and the other sellers this site tracks carry the Dutch tins too; where to buy HiPP in the United States sets them side by side.

A tin that arrives with BE before its article number was packed for Belgium rather than the Netherlands, and the guide to Dutch or Belgian tins says how to tell them apart.14

Questions parents ask

What is HiPP Dutch formula?

The range HiPP sells in the Netherlands: 9 packs across Bio Combiotik, goat's milk, HA and Junior, every one lactose only, made in Germany and printed in Dutch and French.

Does Dutch HiPP have starch?

No. Every Dutch pack this site records gives lactose as its only carbohydrate, Stages 2 and 3 included, which is where the German Combiotik boxes add starch. HiPP describes the starch in its German Stage 1 as making the feed more filling, a claim no trial has tested. The comparison of the Dutch, German and UK versions sets the three side by side.

Is Dutch HiPP organic?

6 of the 9: the Bio Combiotik and goat's milk tins are EU organic, and the HA tins and the Junior are not.

Is there a HiPP Dutch PRE?

No. HiPP Netherlands sells no PRE; its Stage 1 is from birth and lactose only, which is the place PRE takes in Germany, and the two match on every value this site records.

Does HiPP sell ready-to-feed bottles in the Netherlands?

HiPP Netherlands lists none: its site sells four ranges, all of them powder in tins. The ready-to-feed bottles this site records are German and British, and the page on HiPP's ready-to-feed bottles lists every one with its own label and chart.

What language are Dutch HiPP tins in?

Dutch and French. The product pages here translate the preparation panel, and the table above gives the name of each kind of milk.

Where is Dutch HiPP made?

In Germany, as the tins say. HiPP Nederland, in Utrecht, is the distributor the label names, and the Dutch and German ranges come from the same maker, under the same EU rules.

How big are Dutch HiPP tins?

The Bio Combiotik, HA and Junior tins hold 800 g and the goat's milk tins 400 g, against 600 g in a German Combiotik box.

Can I buy Dutch HiPP in the United States?

Yes, from importers. Organic Life Start, our partner retailer, sells all 9 Dutch packs, the other sellers this site tracks carry the Dutch tins too, and none is sold in American stores. The table above gives the partner's price for each pack, and the where-to-buy page for the United States sets every seller side by side.

Is Dutch HiPP the same as Belgian HiPP?

The article number tells them apart: NL before it means a tin packed for the Netherlands, BE one packed for Belgium, and the digits can match. A Dutch tin may print hipp.be beside hipp.nl, which does not make it Belgian.
