Values from HiPP's label for the Netherlands, checked 18 September 2026. The last column is the range for infant formula in Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex I, per 100 kcal unless it says per 100 ml. The label prints values per 100 ml only, so the per 100 kcal column is calculated from them.

Every value is the one printed on the tin for 100 ml of made-up feed, which is 13.2 g of powder in 90 ml of water. On every value this site records, it matches the German HA 1.39

How do you prepare it?

Sterilise the bottle, teat and ring, boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to 40 to 50 °C, then add one level scoop (4.4 g) for every 30 ml. Shake it, cool it to about body temperature and check it; the tin says to give it within half an hour and never reuse what is left.3

HiPP's own chart from the pack; water a day is feeds times water per feed. Babies vary, and a hungry or sleepy baby is a better guide than the table.

The chart runs from the first week to six months and after, the same as the Dutch Stage 1's, and the tin says solid food can start from the fifth month, in consultation with your doctor.3

Who is it for, and who is it not for?

The tin says it is for babies from birth, as the only food or alongside breast milk, and asks parents to consult their doctor before deciding to bottle-feed. It also says it must not be used with a cow's milk protein allergy or a suspicion of one.3

The NHS says a baby diagnosed with a cow's milk allergy is prescribed a hypoallergenic formula with fully broken-down protein by a GP.6

★★★★★ Rachel K. Verified buyer Rewarded with a discount on Formuland

We’ve tried three different formulas for our baby, who has reflux and spits up frequently. Not only has this formula been great for him, but it has also slightly helped with his reflux! On top of that, Formuland is the best place to buy it. Their satisfaction guarantee made finding the right formula easy and risk free, and we have peace of mind knowing we’re giving our baby a healthy, safe option. We couldn’t be happier with both the formula and Formuland!

This is a great formula that my little seemed to enjoy compared to other brands I tried prior. I would definitely recommend and the fast service is always a plus.

Baby loves it.

Shipping was extremely fast and easy! I purchased this for my son who has cmpa and refuses to drink all the other brands. This one smells more like milk than the others and he seems to like it better!

Questions parents ask

Is HiPP Dutch HA 1 the same as the German HA 1?

On every value this site records, the two match per 100 ml, with the same 4.4 g scoop and the same dilution. The Dutch tin holds 800 g and is printed in Dutch and French; the German box holds 600 g. HiPP makes both in Germany, and both say not to use them with a cow's milk protein allergy.

Can HiPP Dutch HA 1 be used for a cow's milk protein allergy?

No. The tin says it must not be used with a cow's milk protein allergy or a suspicion of one. A diagnosed baby needs a formula the doctor chooses; the NHS says that is a hypoallergenic formula with fully broken-down protein.

Does HiPP Dutch HA 1 prevent allergies?

The evidence does not show that it does: ESPGHAN found in 2024 that there is not enough evidence to recommend a hydrolysed formula for preventing cow’s milk allergy.

What does hydrolysed approved protein on the tin mean?

The tin says its hydrolysed protein is approved by EFSA, as the law requires. In 2022 the European Food Safety Authority found HiPP's hydrolysed whey protein nutritionally safe and suitable for infant formula; that opinion was about nutrition and made no finding on allergy.

How is HiPP Dutch HA 1 different from the Dutch Stage 1?

The protein and the organic mark: HA 1 has hydrolysed whey protein and is not organic, where the Stage 1 has intact milk protein and is organic. HA 1 takes a 4.4 g scoop against 4.3 g; the feeding chart is the same.

How long does an opened tin last?

HiPP says an opened tin, closed well, keeps for 3 weeks in a dry place at room temperature; the best-before date is printed on the bottom of the tin.

Is HiPP Dutch HA 1 approved by the FDA?

No. The FDA does not approve infant formulas, and this tin is made for the Dutch market. No HiPP formula is on the FDA's list of formulas marketed in the United States.

Is HiPP Dutch HA 1 organic?

No. The tin carries no organic logo and no Bio in its name, unlike HiPP's Dutch Bio Combiotik and goat's milk tins.
