HiPP formula guides
The answer
The guides answer one question each about choosing, preparing and buying HiPP formula. Every fact in them comes from HiPP's own pack information or from a public source such as the WHO, the CDC or EU law, and each page links its sources and states how strong the evidence is. A guide opens with the short answer, then gives the detail, and ends with the questions parents ask. They are grouped below by topic.
Choosing a HiPP formula
- Which HiPP formula is right for your babyHiPP sells eight ranges across four markets. Four questions narrow them: the baby's age, whether a doctor is involved, which milk, which market.guide
- HiPP stages explainedHiPP's stage numbers are HiPP's own. EU law knows two categories and draws the line at six months. Which stages are actually the same category.guide
- Who HiPP is not for9 HiPP packs name a baby they must not be used for. None is lactose free, none is made for a premature baby, none is registered for US sale.guide
- How long to trial a formulaNobody publishes a trial length, and the NHS says there is no evidence switching helps or harms. What to watch, and when to ask a health visitor.guide
Preparing and using HiPP
- How to prepare HiPP formulaHiPP's own label instructions: the water and its temperature beside the CDC and WHO figures, the scoops, and how long a bottle and a tin keep.guide
- HiPP scoop size and water ratioWhat a HiPP scoop weighs and the water it goes into, for every pack checked here. The scoop is not the same in every tin, and swapping mixes it wrong.guide
- HiPP water temperatureHiPP's German and Dutch labels ask for 40 to 50 °C to protect the culture. The WHO and CDC ask for 70. HiPP's British labels follow the second.guide
- How long does prepared HiPP formula lastThe Dutch label gives a made-up bottle half an hour; the CDC allows two hours out and 24 in the fridge. Both positions, and the liquid exception.guide
- HiPP in a Baby BrezzaBaby Brezza's finder lists HiPP in 63 of 78 territories, by formula name rather than pack. Which tins match by barcode, and what to do if yours does not.guide
- HiPP feeding chart by ageHiPP's own charts pack by pack: six rows on the German and Dutch first milks, eight on the British tins, and the packs that print no chart at all.guide
- Mixing HiPP formula with breast milkNo HiPP pack and no health body gives an instruction for a bottle holding both. What is instructed is water, at the dilution the pack prints.guide
- HiPP formula foam, clumps and smellWhy HiPP powder smells faintly of fish, foams and leaves small clumps, each traced to an ingredient on the pack, and what a bad pack looks like.guide
- HiPP storage, expiry dates and batch codesHow long an opened pack lasts, where the best-before date and lot code are printed, what the letter L means, and how to check your own batch.guide
- Travelling with HiPP formulaAirport rules in three jurisdictions, from the TSA, GOV.UK and EU aviation security. Whether the 100 ml rule touches a ready-to-feed bottle.guide
- How to switch HiPP formula stagesHiPP's own changeover method: bottle by bottle, one on the first day and two on the second, never two powders in one bottle. And the scoop changes.guide
