The answer

You cannot order this through milkatlas in the United States. The sellers below ship it there.
HiPP German Goat PRE is HiPP's organic infant formula made from goat's milk in Germany, labelled from birth. Its protein comes from skimmed goat's milk and skimmed goat's milk powder, with no whey, lactose is its only carbohydrate, and it adds galacto-oligosaccharides but no lactic culture. It comes in a 400 g box, one 4.3 g scoop per 30 ml of water, and it is close to the Dutch goat Stage 1 without matching it: seven rows differ, chloride by the most.
Key takeaways
- Organic infant formula from skimmed goat's milk, labelled from birth, with lactose as the only carbohydrate.
- Close to HiPP's Dutch goat Stage 1 but not the same: of the rows both packs print, seven differ, chloride most of all at 70 mg against 58 mg.
- The box says its proteins are similar to cow's milk proteins and declares traces of cow's milk.
- The NHS says goat's milk formula is not suitable for a baby with a cow's milk allergy.

Values from HiPP's label for Germany, checked 6 October 2026. The last column is the range for infant formula in Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex I, per 100 kcal unless it says per 100 ml. The label prints values per 100 ml only, so the per 100 kcal column is calculated from them.
Every value is the one printed on HiPP's artwork for 100 ml of made-up feed, which is 12.9 g of powder in 90 ml of water. The Dutch goat Stage 1 is close but not identical: seven of the rows both packs print differ, chloride by the most, and this box prints a linoleic acid row and a sugars row the Dutch tin leaves out.28

How do you prepare it?
Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to 40 to 50 °C, pour it into the bottle and add one level scoop (4.3 g) for every 30 ml. Shake it, cool it to about body temperature and check it; the box says never to warm a feed in the microwave.2
| Water | Scoops | Powder | Feed size | Water temp. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30 ml · 1 fl oz | 1 | 4.3 g | 33 ml · 1.1 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 90 ml · 3 fl oz | 3 | 12.9 g | 100 ml · 3.4 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 120 ml · 4 fl oz | 4 | 17.2 g | 133 ml · 4.5 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 150 ml · 5 fl oz | 5 | 21.5 g | 167 ml · 5.6 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 180 ml · 6 fl oz | 6 | 25.8 g | 200 ml · 6.8 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 210 ml · 7 fl oz | 7 | 30.1 g | 233 ml · 7.9 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
One scoop is 4.3 g, level, not packed. The feed size column is the volume in the bottle after the powder dissolves.

- Frisches Trinkwasser abkochen und auf ca. 40 - 50 °C abkühlen.
- Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to about 40 to 50 °C.
- 1 gestrichener Messlöffel = ca. 4,3 g
- One level scoop is about 4.3 g.
- Nahrung daher vor jeder Mahlzeit frisch zubereiten und sofort füttern. Nahrungsreste nicht wiederverwenden.
- Make each feed fresh and give it straight away. Do not reuse leftovers.
How much should a baby drink?
| Age | Feeds a day | Water per feed | Scoops | Made-up bottle | Water a day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1 to 2 | 7 to 8 | 60 ml | 2 | 70 ml | 420 to 480 ml |
| Weeks 3 to 4 | 5 to 7 | 90 ml | 3 | 100 ml | 450 to 630 ml |
| Weeks 5 to 8 | 5 to 6 | 120 ml | 4 | 135 ml | 600 to 720 ml |
| Months 3 to 4 | 5 | 150 ml | 5 | 170 ml | 750 ml |
| Month 5 | 4 to 5 | 180 ml | 6 | 200 ml | 720 to 900 ml |
| From month 6 | 4 | 210 ml | 7 | 235 ml | 840 ml |
HiPP's own chart from the pack; water a day is feeds times water per feed. Babies vary, and a hungry or sleepy baby is a better guide than the table.
The chart runs from the first week to six months and after, and the box says solid food can start from the fifth month after talking to the pediatrician or midwife, each new solid meal replacing a bottle.2
Who is it for, and who is it not for?
The box says it is for babies from birth, as the only food or alongside breast milk, and can follow breastfeeding or another infant formula. It asks parents to talk to the pediatrician or midwife before using an infant formula.2
On cow's milk, the box says the formula contains proteins similar to cow's milk proteins and traces of cow's milk, and that with an existing or suspected cow's milk protein allergy it should be used only after talking to the pediatrician.2

We really like this formula! Doesn't bubble/foam like other formula when you shake the bottle. Twins seem to handle it really well too. We are about to reorder!

Questions parents ask
Can HiPP German Goat PRE be used for a cow's milk allergy?
Not without the pediatrician. The box says its proteins are similar to cow's milk proteins, that it contains traces of cow's milk, and that with an existing or suspected cow's milk protein allergy it should be used only after talking to the pediatrician. The NHS says goat's milk formulas are not suitable for a baby with a cow's milk allergy, and HiPP's Dutch goat tins rule it out.
Is HiPP German Goat PRE the same as the Dutch goat Stage 1?
Closely, but not exactly. Both take a 4.3 g scoop and print the same feeding chart, and of the rows both packs carry, seven differ per 100 ml. Chloride is the widest, 70 mg here against 58 mg on the Dutch tin, and potassium, magnesium and vitamin B2 move a little too.
Is it made with whole goat's milk?
No. The ingredient list names skimmed goat's milk and skimmed goat's milk powder; the fat comes from organic palm, rapeseed and sunflower oil, with fish oil for DHA.
What does A2 mean on the box?
The front says the formula is made from A2 goat's milk, and HiPP's site for health professionals says goat's milk is naturally high in A2 beta-casein, one form of a milk protein. The box does not explain it, and neither the ingredients nor the table mention it.
What does No. 1 on the box mean?
It is a sales ranking: the bottom of the box cites NielsenIQ sales data for goat's milk formula in Germany and Austria in the year to late October 2024. It says nothing about the formula itself.
Why does the box ask for cooled water when there is no culture?
The box asks for 40 to 50 °C and gives no reason, and this formula has no lactic culture, the reason HiPP gives on its Combiotik boxes. The CDC advises water of around 70 °C for babies under two months, born early or with a weakened immune system, so ask your pediatrician which to follow.
Is HiPP German Goat PRE approved by the FDA?
No. The FDA does not approve infant formulas, and this box is made in Germany for the German market. No HiPP formula is on the FDA's list of formulas marketed in the United States.
Where can I buy HiPP German Goat PRE in the US?
milkatlas does not sell it. The sellers this site tracks are listed on this page, with the price each showed on the day it was read.
