The answer

HiPP PUR is a newer organic range from HiPP Germany, first printed in September 2025: PRE and 1 from birth, 2 after six months, 3 from the tenth month and a Kindermilch from the twelfth. Its milk fat comes partly from organic whole milk powder, its oils are sunflower and rapeseed with no palm oil, and lactose is its only carbohydrate. Unlike HiPP's Bio Combiotik range it has neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor a lactic culture, and it adds soy lecithin.

Key takeaways

  • Five organic boxes in Germany: PRE and 1 from birth, 2, 3 and a Kindermilch, all without starch or palm oil.
  • Whole milk powder is one ingredient among several, not the base the name whole milk formula suggests.
  • Neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor a lactic culture, the two things HiPP adds to its Bio Combiotik range.
  • PUR PRE and PUR 1 print the same ingredient list; PUR 1 is made up with more powder.
  • HiPP says moving on through its stages is possible but not required.

In Germany HiPP sells PUR as PRE and 1 from birth, 2 after six months, 3 from the tenth month and a Kindermilch from the twelfth month, all in 500 g boxes first printed in September 2025 and marked new.12345

What is different about PUR?

The milk and the fat. Every PUR box lists organic whole milk powder, the source of the milk fat its front advertises, beside whey product or skimmed milk, and uses organic sunflower and rapeseed oil with no palm oil.13

What it leaves out. No PUR box lists galacto-oligosaccharides or a lactic culture, and none has starch; lactose is the only carbohydrate at every stage. Soy lecithin is the emulsifier, so soy is among the allergens.12345

PUR or Bio Combiotik?

Both ranges are organic and made in Germany. The Bio Combiotik PRE is made from skimmed milk and whey product with organic palm, rapeseed and sunflower oil, and adds galacto-oligosaccharides and the culture L. fermentum; the PUR PRE uses whole milk powder, no palm oil and neither addition.61

The Combiotik 1, 2 and 3 add starch; PUR has none at any stage, and its values per 100 ml sit close to the Combiotik boxes of the same stage.23491011

PRE, 1, 2 or 3?

PUR PRE and PUR 1 print the same ingredient list and the same feeding chart, both from birth; PUR 1 is made up with more powder per 100 ml. PUR 2 and PUR 3 share a list too, PUR 3 again made up with less powder.1234

HiPP's German advice says moving on from a PRE is possible but not required, and the NHS says a first formula can stay the main drink through the first year and that children from one to five do not need formula milks.78

Questions parents ask

What does PUR mean on HiPP formula?

The boxes never say. PUR is German for pure or plain, and HiPP uses it as the name of a range whose boxes stress milk fat from organic whole milk, vegetable oils without palm oil and carefully chosen ingredients. This site reads it as a name, not a claim.

Is HiPP PUR a whole milk formula?

Partly. Every PUR box lists organic whole milk powder, 18 % of PUR PRE and 1 and 19 % of PUR 2, 3 and the Kindermilch, but whey product or skimmed milk comes first on every list.

What is the difference between HiPP PUR and Bio Combiotik?

PUR adds whole milk powder, uses sunflower and rapeseed oil without palm oil, has no starch at any stage and adds soy lecithin; it has neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor the culture L. fermentum, which every Bio Combiotik box adds. Both ranges are organic and made in Germany, and their PRE boxes share the same feeding chart.

Does HiPP PUR contain probiotics?

No. None of the five boxes lists a lactic culture or galacto-oligosaccharides, the pair HiPP adds to every Bio Combiotik box and names the range after.

Does HiPP PUR contain palm oil?

No. Every PUR box says its vegetable oils are without palm oil, and lists organic sunflower and rapeseed oil, where the Bio Combiotik boxes add organic palm oil.

What is the difference between PUR PRE and PUR 1?

The two boxes print the same ingredient list, age and feeding chart; PUR 1 takes a bigger scoop and more powder per 100 ml. Unlike the Bio Combiotik 1, PUR 1 has no starch, and neither box says when to choose one over the other.

Does HiPP PUR contain soy?

Yes. Every PUR box uses soy lecithin as its emulsifier and prints soy in bold among its allergens, beside milk and fish oil, which matters for a child with a soy allergy.

Is HiPP PUR sold in the United States?

Not by HiPP. The boxes are made in Germany for the German market; the sellers that offer them in the US import them, and milkatlas does not sell them.
