## The answer

*Front of the pack*

You cannot order this through milkatlas in the United States. The sellers below ship it there.

HiPP Kindermilch PUR is the milk in HiPP Germany's newer organic PUR range for children from the twelfth month of life, meant to drink from a cup. Despite its name, its legal name is organic follow-on formula. It is made from skimmed milk, lactose, sunflower and rapeseed oil and organic whole milk powder, with no palm oil and neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor a culture, and HiPP recommends 300 ml a day. The NHS says children aged one to five do not need formula milks.

## Key takeaways

- Labelled from the twelfth month of life, to drink from a cup, with 300 ml a day recommended.
- Its legal name is organic follow-on formula, where HiPP's Kindermilch 1+ is a milk drink for young children.
- Organic, unlike the Kindermilch Combiotik 1+, with no palm oil and neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor a culture.
- The NHS says children from one to five do not need formula milks, and the American Academy of Pediatrics calls toddler formulas unnecessary for most.

## What is in HiPP Kindermilch PUR?

The ingredient list starts with skimmed milk and lactose, then organic sunflower and rapeseed oil and organic whole milk powder at 19 %; unlike PUR 3 there is no whey product, and there is no palm oil and no starch. (Source 2) (Source 7)

Fish oil adds DHA at 12.1 mg per 100 ml, and soy lecithin is the emulsifier. There are no galacto-oligosaccharides and no lactic culture. (Source 2)

*The ingredients as printed on the box, in German. The asterisk marks organic ingredients.*

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The box compares 300 ml of it with 300 ml of cow's milk, printing far more iron, vitamin C and vitamin D for its own drink, and says iron supports mental development and vitamins C and D the immune system. Those are HiPP's claims, graded here as the manufacturer's. (Source 2)

Values from HiPP's label for Germany, checked 18 September 2026. The last column is the range for follow-on formula in Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex II, per 100 kcal unless it says per 100 ml. The label prints values per 100 ml only, so the per 100 kcal column is calculated from them.

Every value is the one printed on HiPP's artwork for 100 ml, made from 11.7 g of powder in 90 ml of water. Beside the Kindermilch Combiotik 1+ it has more energy, protein and DHA, and less iron, vitamin D and calcium. (Source 2) (Source 8)

*The top of the composition table on the box, per 100 ml. If the box and this page ever disagree, the box is right and we log a correction.*

Evidence · Regulation

The label's legal name makes it a follow-on formula, so this site compares its values with Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex II, the ranges in the last column. (Source 2) (Source 3)

## How do you prepare it?

Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to 40 to 50 °C, then add one level scoop (3.9 g) for every 30 ml and mix it well. Cool it to drinking temperature and check it; an opened bag keeps for 3 weeks. (Source 2)

**Preparation table**

| Water | Scoops | Powder | Feed size | Water temp. |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 30 ml · 1 fl oz | 1 | 3.9 g | 33 ml · 1.1 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 90 ml · 3 fl oz | 3 | 11.7 g | 100 ml · 3.4 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 120 ml · 4 fl oz | 4 | 15.6 g | 133 ml · 4.5 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 150 ml · 5 fl oz | 5 | 19.5 g | 167 ml · 5.6 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 180 ml · 6 fl oz | 6 | 23.4 g | 200 ml · 6.8 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 210 ml · 7 fl oz | 7 | 27.3 g | 233 ml · 7.9 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |

One scoop is 3.9 g, level, not packed. The feed size column is the volume in the bottle after the powder dissolves.

- **Frisches Trinkwasser abkochen und auf ca. 40 - 50 °C abkühlen.**: Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to about 40 to 50 °C.
- **1 gestrichener Messlöffel = ca. 3,9 g HiPP PUR Kindermilch**: One level scoop is about 3.9 g of HiPP PUR Kindermilch.
- **HiPP PUR Kindermilch ist für Kinder ab dem 12. Monat zum Trinken aus der Tasse bestimmt.**: HiPP PUR Kindermilch is meant for children from the twelfth month, to drink from a cup.

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The box says the milk is for drinking from a cup, yet prints bottle pictures for making it up and says that if you do give it from a bottle, not to leave the child sucking on it. (Source 2)

## How much should a baby drink?

**Bottle sizes and scoops**

| Made-up bottle | Boiled water | Scoops |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 100 ml | 90 ml | 3 |
| 200 ml | 180 ml | 6 |

The pack gives bottle sizes rather than ages, so this is what it prints and all it prints. How much a child takes varies, and a hungry or sleepy child is a better guide than the table.

HiPP recommends 300 ml a day, the same as for its Kindermilch 1+, as part of a meal at breakfast, in muesli or at supper. (Source 2) (Source 8)

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The daily amount is HiPP's recommendation for its own drink; a child eating a varied diet may drink other milk instead.

## Who is it for, and who is it not for?

The box says it is for children from the twelfth month, as part of a mixed diet, and should not replace breast milk in the first six months. (Source 2)

It is made from cow's milk and contains fish oil and soy, so it is not for a child with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy. (Source 2)

Evidence · No evidence found

The NHS says children aged one to five do not need formula milks and can drink pasteurised whole cow's milk from one year; the American Academy of Pediatrics calls toddler formulas unnecessary for most children, and the European Food Safety Authority found young-child formula no more necessary than a normal diet. (Source 4) (Source 5) (Source 6)

Our view

By the first birthday most children can drink the milk the family drinks; buy this box only if your pediatrician has a reason to suggest a toddler milk, and then choose it over the Kindermilch 1+ if organic matters to you.

## Questions parents ask

### Does a toddler need HiPP Kindermilch PUR?

Most do not. The NHS says children aged one to five do not need formula milks, growing-up milks included, and that pasteurised whole cow's milk can be the main drink from one year. The American Academy of Pediatrics calls toddler formulas unnecessary for most children, and the European Food Safety Authority found young-child formula no more necessary than a normal diet. Ask your pediatrician if your child eats very little.

### Is it a toddler milk or a follow-on formula?

By its label, a follow-on formula: the legal name beside the weight is organic follow-on formula, though the box calls it Kindermilch, a children's milk, for growing children. This site follows the legal name, so the nutrition table uses the EU follow-on ranges.

### How is it different from HiPP's Kindermilch 1+?

It is organic, a follow-on formula by its legal name, and has more energy, protein and DHA per 100 ml but less iron, vitamin D and calcium. It has neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor the culture L. fermentum, which the Kindermilch 1+ adds, and uses a smaller scoop to less water.

### How much should a child drink?

HiPP recommends 300 ml a day, from a cup, as part of a meal at breakfast, in muesli or at supper, and says a child need not finish the cup.

### How do you make HiPP Kindermilch PUR?

One level scoop of 3.9 g for every 30 ml of water, cooled after boiling. The box gives two amounts: 100 ml from 90 ml of water and 3 scoops, and 200 ml from 180 ml and 6.

### Is it made with whole milk?

Partly. Organic whole milk powder is 19 % of it, after skimmed milk, lactose and the oils, and it is where the milk fat the box advertises comes from.

### Does it contain soy?

Yes, as soy lecithin, the emulsifier; the box prints soy in bold among its allergens, beside milk and fish oil.

### Is HiPP Kindermilch PUR sold in the United States?

Not by HiPP. It is made in Germany for the German market, the sellers that offer it in the US import it, and milkatlas does not sell it.
