## The answer

*Front of the pack*

You cannot order this through milkatlas in the United States. The sellers below ship it there.

HiPP German HA PRE ready to feed is HiPP's hydrolysed infant formula, already mixed and sealed in a 200 ml bottle, labelled from birth. Its protein is cow's milk whey broken into smaller pieces, and it is the one bottle of the four that is not organic, because that hydrolysed whey is not made from organic milk. It is close to the HA PRE powder, not identical, and HiPP's 2026 recipe added taurine and more magnesium to the bottle.

## Key takeaways

- Hydrolysed whey protein, ready to drink in a 200 ml bottle, labelled from birth.
- Not organic: no EU organic leaf and no organic marks in the ingredient list, exactly as on the HA PRE powder.
- Close to the HA PRE powder, not identical: the 2026 print, 2226-05, adds taurine and raises magnesium, and a few minerals and fats differ besides.
- The bottle says it must not be used where a cow's milk protein allergy already exists or is suspected.
- The artwork makes no allergy-prevention claim at all: it states the hydrolysed protein as a fact, not as a benefit.

## What is in HiPP German HA PRE ready to feed?

Water comes first, then lactose, palm, rapeseed and sunflower oils, hydrolysed whey protein, galacto-oligosaccharides from lactose and an emulsifier, citric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides. The 2026 print adds taurine and marks it as new. (Source 2)

Nothing in the list is marked organic, and the pack carries no EU organic leaf: this is the one bottle of the four that is not an organic product, and the HA PRE powder is not either. (Source 2) (Source 3)

There is no lactic culture and no fish oil. The DHA comes from algal oil and the arachidonic acid from *Mortierella alpina* oil, so the allergen line names milk alone. (Source 2)

*The start of the ingredients list as printed on the label, in German; the list runs on down the bottle.*

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The front carries a gold seal reading 25 years of immune research, and the words nature and research hand in hand. It states the hydrolysed protein as a fact in the legal name, and makes no claim that it prevents anything. Those are HiPP's words. (Source 2)

Values from HiPP's label for Germany, checked 25 September 2026. The last column is the range for infant formula in Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex I, per 100 kcal unless it says per 100 ml. The label prints values per 100 ml only, so the per 100 kcal column is calculated from them.

Every value is for the milk as poured. HiPP changed the recipe in 2026 and flags taurine as new; the figures are from that print, and the correction at the foot of this page gives the earlier one that differs. (Source 2)

Against the HA PRE powder, most rows match. The fat breakdown, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, vitamin B2 and magnesium differ, and only the bottle lists taurine. (Source 2) (Source 3)

*The top of the composition panel on the label, per 100 ml. If the label and this page ever disagree, the label is right and we log a correction.*

Evidence · Regulation

The bottle is sold as an infant formula, so it must meet Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex I. In 2022 the European Food Safety Authority found HiPP's whey protein hydrolysate nutritionally safe and suitable for infant formula, with growth over three months equivalent to formula made from intact cow's milk protein. (Source 4) (Source 7)

## How do you prepare it?

This is the one of the four that asks for a second shake, after warming and before feeding. Warm to about 40 °C, cool to about 37 °C, check it, feed at once and pour away what is left. (Source 2)

Nothing is added: the bottle is already at drinking strength. Pour out what you need, warm it to about 40 °C, check it at about 37 °C, and keep an opened bottle in the fridge for no longer than 24 hours.

- **Die noch versiegelte Flasche vor dem ersten Öffnen kräftig schütteln.**: Shake the still-sealed bottle hard before opening it for the first time.
- **Benötigte Trinkmenge in ein Fläschchen füllen und auf ca. 40 °C erwärmen. Erneut kräftig schütteln.**: Pour the amount you need into a feeding bottle, warm it to about 40 °C, and shake it hard again.
- **Nahrung nicht in der Mikrowelle erhitzen (Verbrühungsgefahr).**: Do not heat the feed in a microwave: it can scald.
- **Geöffnetes, unerwärmtes Fläschchen verschlossen im Kühlschrank (max. 6 °C) aufbewahren und innerhalb von 24h aufbrauchen.**: Keep an opened, unwarmed bottle closed in the fridge at no more than 6 °C and use it within 24 hours.

Evidence · Regulation

Sealed liquid milk is sterile where powder is not, which is why the CDC writes its extra preparation steps for powdered formula and names ready-to-feed formula where water cannot be made safe by boiling. (Source 5)

## How much should a baby drink?

**Feeding chart by age**

| Age | Feeds a day | Ready to drink | Milk a day |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Weeks 1 to 2 | 7 to 8 | 70 ml | 490 to 560 ml |
| Weeks 3 to 4 | 5 to 7 | 100 ml | 500 to 700 ml |
| Weeks 5 to 8 | 5 to 6 | 135 ml | 675 to 810 ml |
| Months 3 to 4 | 5 | 170 ml | 850 ml |
| Month 5 | 4 to 5 | 200 ml | 800 to 1000 ml |
| From month 6 | 4 | 235 ml | 940 ml |

HiPP's own chart from the pack; milk a day is feeds times the bottle. Babies vary, and a hungry or sleepy baby is a better guide than the table.

The chart runs from 70 ml a feed in the first fortnight to 235 ml from the sixth month, and this pack adds a line the others leave out: your baby does not have to finish the bottle. (Source 2)

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The volumes and the number of feeds are HiPP's guide values, which it says can vary. (Source 2)

## Who is it for, and who is it not for?

The bottle carries the infant formula notice: breastfeeding is best, and talk to your pediatrician or midwife before using a formula. HiPP offers it as the only feed from birth or for topping up. (Source 2)

Then the warning that matters most on this pack: it must not be used where a cow's milk protein allergy already exists or is suspected. Hydrolysed is not the same as allergy-free, and the protein still comes from cow's milk. (Source 2)

Evidence · No evidence found

In 2024 ESPGHAN found not enough evidence to recommend a partially or extensively hydrolysed formula for preventing cow’s milk allergy, and a Cochrane review of sixteen studies found none in 2018. The American Academy of Pediatrics said the same in 2019 and has since retired that report. HiPP makes no such claim on this artwork. (Source 9) (Source 10) (Source 6)

Our view

If a doctor has put your baby on HA PRE, these bottles are a straightforward way to carry it about, and the milk is close to the powder, if not identical. If nobody has, the evidence does not give you a reason to choose HA over the plain PRE, and the plain PRE is organic.

## Questions parents ask

### What does HA mean on this bottle?

Hydrolysed, from the German hypoallergen. The whey protein has been broken into smaller pieces, which HiPP states plainly in the legal name and in the ingredient list, where it reads hydrolysed whey protein. Smaller pieces are meant to be less likely to provoke a reaction than whole milk protein. The bottle itself claims nothing about what that achieves, and this site does not claim it either.

### Does it prevent allergies?

The pack does not say so, and the evidence does not support it. In 2024 ESPGHAN found not enough evidence to recommend a partially or extensively hydrolysed formula for preventing cow’s milk allergy. Ask your pediatrician before choosing a formula for allergy reasons.

### Can a baby with a cow's milk allergy have it?

No. The bottle says in full that it must not be used where a cow's milk protein allergy already exists or is suspected. A diagnosed baby needs a formula a doctor chooses.

### Why is it not organic when the other bottles are?

Because the hydrolysed whey protein it is built on is not made from organic milk. The pack carries no EU organic leaf, no German organic code and no organic marks beside its ingredients, and its legal name has no organic prefix where the other three bottles do. The HA PRE powder is the same in this, so it is the ingredient and not the format that decides it.

### Is it the same as the HA PRE powder?

Close, not the same. Most rows both panels print match, but the fat breakdown, potassium, phosphorus, manganese and vitamin B2 differ, and since the 2026 recipe so do magnesium and taurine. The bottle also has no fish oil and no lactic culture.

### Does it contain palm oil?

Yes. Its vegetable oils are palm, rapeseed and sunflower, where the plain PRE and Stage 1 bottles use sunflower and rapeseed only.

### How do I prepare it?

Shake the sealed bottle, pour what you need into a feeding bottle, shake it again as the pack asks, and warm it to about 40 °C, never in a microwave. Cool it to about 37 °C, check it, feed it at once and throw away the rest.

### How long does an opened bottle keep?

Closed in the fridge at no more than 6 °C, and used within 24 hours, so long as it has not been warmed. Warm only what the baby will drink, and pour away whatever is left in the feeding bottle.

### Does it taste different?

Hydrolysed formulas taste more bitter than formulas made from intact milk protein, which is why babies sometimes refuse a switch. HiPP does not discuss taste on the pack, and this site has not tested it.

### Is the 90 ml bottle the same milk?

Not at the moment. The 90 ml tray still carries the earlier print, 2362-03, while this sleeve moved to the 2026 recipe with taurine and more magnesium; every other row both print matches. Its lid also names lactose intolerance, galactosaemia and glucose-galactose malabsorption, which this sleeve does not.

**Corrections (1)**

- 25 September 2026 · HiPP changed this bottle in 2026. The new print, article 2226-05 with barcode 4062300484733, declares 6.0 mg of magnesium per 100 ml where the earlier print, 2226-04, declared 4.5 mg, adds taurine at 3.3 mg, and changes the emulsifier to citric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides. The page had also said every recorded value matches the HA PRE powder and that the 90 ml bottle is the same milk; with the full panels recorded several rows differ, and the 90 ml tray still carries the earlier print, so the page now says both. The alpha-linolenic acid row the label prints was missing from the table and is now in it. (before publication)
