## The answer

You cannot order this through milkatlas in the United States. The sellers below ship it there.

HiPP German PUR PRE is a newer organic infant formula from HiPP Germany, labelled from birth and first printed in September 2025. Its milk fat comes partly from organic whole milk powder, 18 % of the powder, beside whey product; lactose is its only carbohydrate, and its oils are sunflower and rapeseed, with no palm oil. Unlike HiPP's Bio Combiotik PRE, it has neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor a lactic culture. It comes in a 500 g box, one 4.2 g scoop per 30 ml of water.

## Key takeaways

- Labelled from birth, with lactose as the only carbohydrate and no starch.
- Milk fat partly from organic whole milk powder, 18 % of the powder, and no palm oil.
- Neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor a lactic culture, unlike HiPP's Bio Combiotik PRE.
- PUR 1 has the same ingredient list, with a bigger scoop and more powder per 100 ml.

## What is in HiPP German PUR PRE?

The ingredient list starts with whey product, then organic sunflower and rapeseed oil, then organic whole milk powder at 18 % and lactose; there is no skimmed milk and no palm oil. (Source 2)

Fish oil adds DHA at 13 mg per 100 ml, Mortierella alpina oil adds arachidonic acid, and soy lecithin is the emulsifier, so soy is among the allergens. There are no galacto-oligosaccharides and no lactic culture. (Source 2)

*The ingredients as printed on the box, in German. The asterisk marks organic ingredients.*

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The box says PUR stands out for its natural milk fat from organic whole milk and its carefully chosen ingredients; it never defines the word PUR. Those are HiPP's descriptions, graded here as the manufacturer's. (Source 2)

Values from HiPP's label for Germany, checked 18 September 2026. The last column is the range for infant formula in Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex I, per 100 kcal unless it says per 100 ml. The label prints values per 100 ml only, so the per 100 kcal column is calculated from them.

Every value is the one printed on HiPP's artwork for 100 ml of made-up feed, which is 12.6 g of powder in 90 ml of water. Beside the Combiotik PRE it has a little less energy and fat per 100 ml, and less than half the saturated fat. (Source 2) (Source 7)

*The top of the composition table on the box, per 100 ml. If the box and this page ever disagree, the box is right and we log a correction.*

Evidence · Regulation

PUR PRE is sold as infant formula, so its values must fall within Regulation (EU) 2016/127, Annex I, the ranges in the last column. (Source 3)

## How do you prepare it?

Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to 40 to 50 °C, pour it into the bottle and add one level scoop (4.2 g) for every 30 ml. Shake it, cool it to about body temperature and check it; the box says never to warm a feed in the microwave. (Source 2)

**Preparation table**

| Water | Scoops | Powder | Feed size | Water temp. |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 30 ml · 1 fl oz | 1 | 4.2 g | 33 ml · 1.1 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 90 ml · 3 fl oz | 3 | 12.6 g | 100 ml · 3.4 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 120 ml · 4 fl oz | 4 | 16.8 g | 133 ml · 4.5 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 150 ml · 5 fl oz | 5 | 21.0 g | 167 ml · 5.6 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 180 ml · 6 fl oz | 6 | 25.2 g | 200 ml · 6.8 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |
| 210 ml · 7 fl oz | 7 | 29.4 g | 233 ml · 7.9 fl oz | 40 to 50 °C · 104 to 122 °F |

One scoop is 4.2 g, level, not packed. The feed size column is the volume in the bottle after the powder dissolves.

- **Frisches Trinkwasser abkochen und auf ca. 40 - 50 °C abkühlen.**: Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to about 40 to 50 °C.
- **1 gestrichener Messlöffel = ca. 4,2 g HiPP PRE PUR**: One level scoop is about 4.2 g of HiPP PRE PUR.
- **Nahrung daher vor jeder Mahlzeit frisch zubereiten und sofort füttern. Nahrungsreste nicht wiederverwenden.**: Make each feed fresh and give it straight away. Do not reuse leftovers.

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The box asks for cooled water without giving a reason, and PUR has no lactic culture to protect. The CDC advises water of around 70 °C for babies under two months, born early or with a weakened immune system. We state both and defer to your pediatrician. (Source 2) (Source 4)

## How much should a baby drink?

**Feeding chart by age**

| Age | Feeds a day | Water per feed | Scoops | Made-up bottle | Water a day |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Weeks 1 to 2 | 7 to 8 | 60 ml | 2 | 70 ml | 420 to 480 ml |
| Weeks 3 to 4 | 5 to 7 | 90 ml | 3 | 100 ml | 450 to 630 ml |
| Weeks 5 to 8 | 5 to 6 | 120 ml | 4 | 135 ml | 600 to 720 ml |
| Months 3 to 4 | 5 | 150 ml | 5 | 170 ml | 750 ml |
| Month 5 | 4 to 5 | 180 ml | 6 | 200 ml | 720 to 900 ml |
| From month 6 | 4 | 210 ml | 7 | 235 ml | 840 ml |

HiPP's own chart from the pack; water a day is feeds times water per feed. Babies vary, and a hungry or sleepy baby is a better guide than the table.

The chart is the same as PUR 1's, from the first week to six months and after, and the box says solid food can start from the fifth month after talking to the pediatrician or midwife. (Source 2) (Source 8)

Evidence · Manufacturer claim

The chart is HiPP's guide; the box says every baby is different and need not finish the bottle.

## Who is it for, and who is it not for?

The box says it is for babies from birth, as the only food or alongside breast milk, following breastfeeding or another infant formula, and asks parents to talk to the pediatrician or midwife before using an infant formula. (Source 2)

It is made from cow's milk and contains fish oil and soy, so it is not for a baby with a diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, and it is not lactose-free. (Source 2) (Source 5)

Evidence · No evidence found

HiPP's German advice says a PRE can be fed for the whole bottle-feeding period, and the NHS says a first formula can stay the main drink through the first year. (Source 6) (Source 5)

Our view

Choose PUR PRE over the Bio Combiotik PRE if a formula without palm oil matters to you; if you want galacto-oligosaccharides and the culture, the Combiotik PRE is the box to buy.

## Questions parents ask

### What is HiPP PUR?

HiPP's newer organic range in Germany, first printed in September 2025 and sold as PRE, 1, 2, 3 and a Kindermilch. The box never says what PUR means; it stresses milk fat from organic whole milk and vegetable oils without palm oil.

### Is HiPP PUR a whole milk formula?

Partly. The ingredient list starts with whey product, then sunflower and rapeseed oil, then organic whole milk powder at 18 %, then lactose. The whole milk powder is where the box's milk fat comes from, so whole milk is one ingredient among several rather than the base, as some sellers describe it.

### What is the difference between PUR PRE and the Bio Combiotik PRE?

PUR uses whole milk powder where the Combiotik PRE uses skimmed milk, has no palm oil, and has neither galacto-oligosaccharides nor the culture L. fermentum. Both are organic, lactose only and labelled from birth.

### What is the difference between PUR PRE and PUR 1?

The strength. The two boxes print the same ingredient list, the same age and the same feeding chart, but PUR 1 takes a 4.4 g scoop against 4.2 g and more powder per 100 ml, so each 100 ml has a little more energy. Neither has starch, and neither box says when to choose one over the other.

### Does HiPP PUR PRE contain soy?

Yes, as soy lecithin, the emulsifier; the box prints soy in bold among its allergens, beside milk and fish oil.

### Why does the box ask for cooled water when there is no culture?

The box asks for 40 to 50 °C and gives no reason; on HiPP's Combiotik boxes the reason is to protect the culture, which PUR does not have. The CDC advises water of around 70 °C for young babies, so ask your pediatrician which to follow.

### Is HiPP PUR PRE approved by the FDA?

No. The FDA does not approve infant formulas, and this box is made in Germany for the German market. No HiPP formula is on the FDA's list of formulas marketed in the United States.

### Where can I buy HiPP PUR PRE in the US?

milkatlas does not sell it. The sellers this site tracks are listed on this page, with the price each showed on the day it was read.
